Week #2
On Monday, students began to settle into their schedules, and are becoming more comfortable with the expectations. During this week, we will be introducing the students to their new roles in their chosen professions. These students will also be assigned to specific corporations, where different grade levels will be working collaboratively. Hopefully, by the end of the week, we will have a solid start toward successfully completing the Olympic Project.
Monday - July 18th
Today, students were informed of their positions, as well as placed into their corporations. During the morning they were expected to work on reading and math intervention, as well as complete group activities. We took a brief moment to allow students to work in their departments, where job expectations and requirements were explained to them. In the afternoon, the groups met as corporations. They were expected to create a company name, as well as record their driving questions.
Tuesday - July 19th
Students continued working through the morning routine of: reading and math intervention, team-building activities, sustained silent reading, and departments. In the afternoon session, the corporations continued working on building their companies brand name. Students are now beginning to see how collaboration and teamwork can lead to great success and accomplishment.
Wednesday - July 20th and Thursday - July 21st
Students continued working through the morning routine of: reading and math intervention, team-building activities, sustained silent reading, and departments. The corporations are really beginning to produce solid work and wonderful results. Company webpages are beginning to come to life. Robots are taking shape and beginning to move about the rooms. Research is being conducted to provide program engineers with the most in-depth, cutting-edge information. Accountants are conducting budget reviews and creating checks, ledgers and billing statements. The CEOs have figured out how to get the people within their corporation to "click"!! As teachers, we are truly excited about next week. Stay tuned in!!
