- Students were given baseline assessments in Math and Reading, utilizing the STAR assessment system.
- With these baseline scores, educators were then able to strategically place students into appropriate, ability-based intervention programs, which focused on Math and Reading Comprehension.
- In addition, the educators rolled out the STEM-based PBL competition, which was designed around the upcoming Olympic Games, incorporating a robotic's program into the project.
- Students received training on how to create, and revise, a professional resume that would be used to apply for careers in: robotic engineering, programming, business management, marketing and media, scientific research, and accounting.
- Students were also required to complete a job application and sign up for two career interviews. The educators provided valuable modeling, and other various forms of instruction, on how to respond in an actual interview. Students prepared for two-days by interviewing their classmates, peer-revising fellow students, and conducting research into their chosen fields, by completing a detail-specific graphic organizer.
- On Thursday, students were allowed to once again practice their interviewing skills with various peers and teachers. Interviews began during the afternoon session. Teachers and building administrators served as interview committees for each career. Candidates were asked various questions regarding their strengths and abilities. Depending upon their responses, they were then given a score. Students were placed in their respected positions depending upon scores.
